You are bidding on a very fine wooden mask. This is a jaguar mask. This piece has been hand carved from one piece of wood. This is a Guatamalan Mayan historic mask used for festivals and celebrations. The town has become famous for its masks which depict a combination of indigenous characters as well as Catholic Saints as this one does. Chichicastenango is a town in Guatemala 6500 feet up in the mountains. This piece is not signed. This piece measures approximately 3 3/4 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches wide. There is no damage to this piece. It is in very good condition.
