Vintage Roberts 770X (Akai M8) Reel-to-Reel Tape Player Recorder.
Bought this with the intention of making Tube preamps for home studio. Been sitting in my basement ever since. I never even took it apart. Too many other projects. I have a few others that will be up for auction as well.
As seen in pics it powers up. Transport does not function nor do the FF or RW functions. One VU light is out. The pinch roller mechanism is frozen which is typical for these old decks when left unattended. Pinch roller dried out and will need replacing as will any belts I’m sure. I have no idea what year it is but likely early 1960’s. It does pass audio when a mic is connected and put in record. All components are original INCLUDING THE TUBES! Nice little 5 watt guitar amp!
These things are BIG and heavy at about 50lbs.
