Vintage PreColumbian Burial Mask.
Beautifully crafted 19th century vintage “Burial Mask” of rich green serpentine stone; 11.4 cm in height and 9.2 cm in width and depth is 3 cm.
Very heavy weight 2 lbs. 14 oz. or 1 kg .296 g. Shows a little wear on the ear lobes and bottom lip, otherwise excellent condition. Collected In 1960 by well known Canadian philanthropist and collector. Provenance included with sale. ******it is recorded that most scholars believe the history of faking antiquities in Mexico dates back to the first decades of the 1800s (Walsh 2005)***
