Vintage Colorful Mexican Aztec?? Hand Painted Clay MASK

I will tell you what I do know about this mask. It is hand painted & very colorful, made of clay & does not appear to have been mass produced. What I don't know is its origins. I am guessing Mexican or Aztec. Either way it is quite fetching. Unmarked. Measures approx 8" tall & 6" wide. In good condition. Does need a cleaning but I have no idea how to achieve this without possibly damaging the finish so will leave that to the next owner. My apologies.
