Tandberg Model 2-T Tape Recorder, Good Motor, Clean, Needs Clutch & Preamp Work

Offered is a late 1950s-vintage Tandberg reel-to-reel tape recorder, model 2-T, made in Norway.  This is a three speed, 1/2 track machine that takes 7" reels and runs on standard US household current (110 volts, 60 hz).
Condition:  This unit is very clean:  The solid wood cabinet has only a couple of small nicks to its veneer.  The metal top plate is fine.  The carry case is strong and intact.
The drive motor powers up and runs quietly.  The "joystick" controller selects fast forward and rewind properly.  On the play position the drive slips and the reels will not move.  The stop position is intermittent: Sometimes the reels will start to turn on their own.
The internal tube amplifier powers up, but there is no sound output at all, not even hiss or hum.  I'd guess one of the vacuum tubes in the amp is kaput.  The green "magic eye" recording level device works.
The main power on/off switch on the top right has lost its bakelite handle; I used a popsicle stick or similar small nonconductive probe tool to switch the machine on and off.  All other control levers and knobs are present and in good condition.
