Spectacular "God with Tears" enamel and metal mask from Mexico.
The mask is about 11" tall x 8" wide.
It is metal with a mottled green enamel that resembles malachite with mixed metal finishes.
The mask has dangling teardrops that represent rain or irrigation.
Two sun faces or sunbursts are included in the design.
The label on the reverse is in Spanish.  The English translation is:
"mask god with tears.  mask god with tears.  The god of fertility in another version this time the tears symbolize irrigation i.e. space the water on the ground for beneficiary."
