This wonderful piece of art is  hand carved mahogany  wood and original
shaped
of  the Mayan chief,
or
"Ruler" or chief . Probably used for dancing  mask. It has
carving writing which say Morreti, Roma, 1934.
This beauty has large  Quetzal birds on bought sides. The quetzal bird was used
only by
Mayas ruler chief  as symbol of authority, f
or 1000's of years  a Maya's
ruler were  men, but  few women all so were discovered
to be the king or ruler
which was a very important role
