    Ceremonial face mask, Lower Baja, Mexico. Hand carved wood mask with remnants of ochre finish. Well preserved.
    Gifted to owner by the archaeological representative of Baja for the discovery of an ancient burial site tool artifacts in La Paz, Mexico.
    Made by the Indigenous Guaycura People. Their culture is distinguished by a language spoken by no other Native Americans indicating, in the opinion of some linguists, that their ancestry in Baja California dates back thousands of years.  #12 on the Map.
