These GEM® blades' precision ground third angle increases sharpness for a precise initial cut which is needed for media editing.
These GEM® Media blades are the industry standard for post production media editing for over 40 years. Blades of this quality are hard to find, since most safety blades are magnetic carbon steel, imported with an inferior single or double facet edge and dripping with oil, but that's OK if you're scraping paint off glass or something similar. But not for editing tape!
Our blades are genuine USA made (it says so right on the box), stainless steel, triple facet cut, and each blade comes sheathed in its own protecting sleeve. These stainless steel blades will not easily magnetize (which will cause pops in your tape splice) and the triple facet cutting edge is extremely sharp and long lasting.   Note: If you see a blade that is not embossed on the safety handle with GEM, they're not made in the USA and are of inferior design. Not only won't they cut as well, they are designed for scraping, not cutting.  Also, the leading and trailing edge of the blade is cut at 90 degrees for an even better cut.  Rounded leading edges are meant for scraping.
Note: The edges of GEM series blades have been scanned under microscopes and it was amazing how superior they are to anything else out there. A ragged tape cut (even in the microscopic world) can cause pops and other issues with your edit.
