  • Condition: In very good condition with signs of age and wear. Works smoothly. Can be taken apart for cleaning. Wood handle is in good condition as well with no chips but the shaft that the wood handle rolls on is bent (last photo). The bend does not compromise the use of the device. Handle turns smoothly. There are some small areas that have some gray paint on the surface.

    Description

    Antique Norvell-Shapleigh #71 Food Meat Grinder USA Wooden Handle Early 1900's
    8 1/4" long including the bottom wingnut x 4 1/2" wide. Outside diameter of top opening mouth 3 3/8"" x 2 3/4",
    inside diameter of mouth is 2 1/8" x 1 1/2".
    This grinder weighs 3 pounds 4.3 ounces. Heavy duty!
    Made in St. Louis USA. Marked "Pat Apl'd For". The shaft of the grinder is marked "Norvell-Shapleigh Hwd. Co."
    The opposite side of the shaft is marked "St. Louis, U.S.A." and near the bottom the numbers "2435". The inside of the handle is
    marked "2440".
    The front of the grinder cone is marked "71" and DE with an arrow through the letters inside a diamond shape.
    In very good condition with signs of age and wear and some small areas of gray paint. Works smoothly. Can be taken apart for cleaning.
    Wood handle is in good condition as well with no chips in the wood although the shaft that the wood handle rolls on is bent (last photo).
    The bend does not compromise the movement or smoothness of operation of the unit. It has survived three major earthquakes!
